I headed down to the lake after work and got there just as the light was fading. Setting up in the dark I baited a few spots around the island that have always done well for me. The next morning I was in and I knew it was a good one. A hard 20 minute fight and trying to constantly steer it from some marginal snags I finally got it in the net. Not one that I’d seen before and a rare one to the bank at 38lb 3oz what a buzz!
After seeing this particular fish and another of the A team in a snag on Saturday morning, I decided to set up in a well known swim where I knew this fish would be. After no action into the night it was coming to the end of bite time, 9am hit and it couldn’t off been 30 seconds later the left hand rod absolutely melted off with the bobbin slamming into the alarm and the Neville screaming. After a small heavy fight she lifted her head up and I knew what particular fish this was.Shoulders at 37 and making it memorable with a few of my good friends and my dad coming down to lend a hand and to celebrate the moment 👊🏻🐋
Just before first light the snag rods away, luckily for me it swam straight into the lake, I could feel it was a good fish then it popped up and i could see what it was, what a way to start the day with the blackest fish in Brooksway Syndicate.
